Place-Based Initiatives Updates
- CONVERGENCE Columbus launched the Maude Hill Growing Homeownership Fund, with $1 million in available funding. Providing up to $15K per household, the Fund has no debt-to-income or credit score requirement, is stackable with other programs, is forgivable after three years of owner occupancy, and includes homebuyer education.
- CONVERGENCE Memphis continues to make progress with its efforts to create more affordable homes for owner occupancy by developing 11 lots it acquired in 2023.
- CONVERGENCE Philadelphia, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and the Philly 5000 initiative, hosted an event that brought together lenders, housing counselors, and real estate professionals for an evening of learning and networking.

Christine (Chrissi) Rhea, President and CEO of the Mortgage Investors Group (MIG), currently sits on MBA’s Board of Directors and is the immediate past Chair of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG). “ Without the MBA I do think we would have fewer affordable housing products that are so needed in today’s environment.”

As we mark the 56th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11, 1968, we honor a pivotal moment in civil rights history. This landmark legislation rendered housing discrimination unlawful, marking a significant stride toward equality. The Fair Housing Act stands as a beacon of justice, prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, and familial status. |
