Over 300 MBA members gathered in Washington, DC, for MBA’s National Advocacy Conference (NAC) last week to advocate for federal policies to strengthen the housing finance industry. During the event, members engaged with their state Representatives, Senators, and congressional staffers to advocate for critical issues including trigger leads, BASEL III, and Remote Online Notarization (RON). Even in a divided government, MBA’s advocacy structure proves to be efficient. We will continue to support policies and policymakers that support you. MBA
is consolidating member feedback and will continue to advocate for the important policy priorities highlighted during the event. Thanks to the IMBs who attended the conference. Your voice in D.C. makes a difference, and you continue to work to meet the demand for housing accessibility.
Following last week's announcement of a tentative settlement
in the NAR "cooperative compensation" litigation, MBA has released a summary covering the scope of the settlement and potential implications. The summary details changes in real estate agent compensation practice, contracting, and compensation for buyers, sellers, and agents, as well as possible impacts on financing transactions and lender engagement with Realtor® referral sources.
After a successful NAC, we don’t want you to miss out on MBA's Secondary & Capital Markets Conference & Expo
in New York City, taking place May 19-22. Hear from industry experts on MSR trends, economic insights from the Federal Reserve, government lending, and more. GSEs will also offer their perspectives on policy priorities, technology enhancements, and affordable mission goals. Early registration rates increase April 9!
-Pete Mills, Senior Vice President, Residential Policy & Strategic Industry Engagement, MBA
