Place-Based Initiatives Updates
- CONVERGENCE Place-Based Initiatives took
center stage during a panel, "Pathways to Home: Regional Strategies for Homeownership," at the Black Homeownership Collaborative Third Anniversary Event in Washington, DC on June 18. The session delved into various strategies, key interventions, and policy frameworks aimed at advancing Black homeownership. The engaging discussion showcased the mission and goals of CONVERGENCE. The session also highlighted the Black Home Initiative from Seattle, WA, and several homeownership programs from Habitat for Humanity International.
- CONVERGENCE Columbus marked the successful launch of Rise Up, a program backed by $5.5 million from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Cincinnati, Ohio. This initiative provides $25,000 grants for down payment, closing costs, or principal reduction assistance. Over the past year, CONVERGENCE Columbus, FHLB Cincinnati, and MBA collaborated closely to establish the program's framework.

- CONVERGENCE Memphis co-leads are set to engage actively in the newly established Memphis Housing Strategy Task Force, under the leadership of Mayor Paul Young. The Task Force's agenda will encompass critical topics such as land acquisition, finance, regulatory issues, and infrastructure development.
- CONVERGENCE Philadelphia has successfully inaugurated an educational and networking event series tailored for loan officers, real estate professionals, and housing counselors. Additionally, the series features a collaboration with Lincoln University, a local historically Black University, aimed at introducing careers in the mortgage and real estate sectors to adult learners at the institution.
